CULLET TREATMENT

As a result of the continued rise in the cost
of raw materials and energy, and increased
environmental awareness in the population
a higher proportion of recycled glass is now
added to the melt.

Recycled foreign cullet always contains con-
taminants that can lead to gas or stone for-
mation, or other faults in the final product.
The most common contaminants are ad-
herent dirt, ceramics, metal closures, paper
and plastic. Cullet treatment plant is used to
remove these contaminants so that good
glass quality is retained even when a high
proportion of cullet is added to the melt.

EME have developed treatment concepts
and equipment for all glass sectors and
applications, including:

• Holloware
Glass wool
TV tubes and
Laminated glass.

Many factors govern the decision about
the type of treatment method to be used.
We should be pleased to discuss which
installation concept would be most suitable
for your application.
