|Ardagh Glass Packaging South Africa (Pty) Ltd
Nikolaus SORG designed and delivered furnace number 3 as a brownfield project at the plant in Nigel, for Ardagh Glass Packaging South Africa.
Erected in a new building in just 12 months, this regenerative endport furnace has a melting area of 150 m² and will primarily produce green and flint container glass. The installation included designs for the refractory, furnace steel and platforms. Boosting systems, tank and throat cooling, SCADA WinCC control system, glass conditioning and machine cooling were also delivered, rounded off by four type 340S+® forehearths.
With batch charging carried out by two CPO 650D® machines, EME connected the new furnace to the existing batch house via a redundant batch transport system. Steel and refractory construction was carried out by SKS, who also supplied the entire steel quantity of 400 tons. The order was successfully completed by the heating up and fill-on with glass.
